How to Follow This Challenge
- Do the three exercises in order: plank, then crunches, then leg raises, resting between each as needed.
- Split a long plank hold into two shorter holds if you can't sustain it in one go — the total time is what matters.
- Keep movements controlled rather than fast — a slower crunch or leg raise works the muscle more than a fast, momentum-driven one.
- Rest days are a full day off from the routine, not just a lighter version of it.
Safety
- Stop if you feel sharp pain in your lower back — this usually means the core isn't controlling the movement and the lower back is compensating.
- If you are pregnant, postpartum, or have an existing back condition, check with a healthcare professional before starting.
- Keep your lower back gently pressed toward the floor during crunches and leg raises rather than arching it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bend your knees slightly and only lower your legs as far as you can while keeping your lower back flat against the floor — range of motion matters less than keeping the back controlled.
Visible ab definition depends mainly on overall body fat, which is driven by nutrition and total activity — this challenge builds core strength and endurance, which is a real and separate benefit regardless of visible definition.
